Richard

During his 30+ year executive career, Richard D’Antoni has held CEO, COO, and board member positions and has raised over $50 million in venture capital for emerging healthcare services and biotech companies.  He has participated in three IPO’s (totaling over $100 million) and two public company mergers.  Returning to executive search in 2001, Richard created the boutique healthcare and life sciences executive search firm D’Antoni Partners, Inc.

Previously, Richard’s focus was in physician practice and diagnostic services management.  He was both an investor and President and CEO of Pathology Partners, Inc., an owner and operator of independent anatomic pathology laboratories.  Richard served as a Director and COO of ProMedCo, a physician practice management company.  During his tenure, ProMedCo grew from a private company with two medical groups to a public company of 11 medical groups with over 680 physician and mid-level providers, ancillary services and three IPA's in nine states with 1997 annualized revenue in excess of $200 million.

Richard has used his recruiting and team building experience to impact companies in a variety of settings and stages.  For five years he served as President and CEO of Cellcor, Inc., a publicly traded biotechnology company in Boston.  He led this private research boutique through a Pivotal FDA Phase III trial, a Treatment IND, an IPO, and merger.  Mid-career he spent almost four years as a Health Care Partner with Korn/Ferry International, the world’s largest executive search firm.

Richard’s hospital experience began in Houston with Hospital Affiliates Inc. (now HCA), and included serving as a Group Vice President for American Medical International (AMI), (now Tenet).  At AMI he was responsible for 11 acute care hospitals and a variety of non-hospital facilities and services, with 1986 revenues in excess of $500 million.  As COO, he was involved in the start-up, IPO, and growth of Medical Care International, then the nation's first and largest owner/operator of outpatient surgery centers.

Richard holds a Master's degree in Health Care Administration from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Science degree from LSU.  He earned the RRA, now RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) while serving in the U.S. Public Health Service and achieved the Certificate in Management Accounting (CMA).

Richard has been married for 37 years, has two grown children and, enjoys volunteer/mission work with his church, golfing, and leisure time at his Galveston beach house.
